Coach Hambrook
Owen Hambrook: Former UNLV Men’s Tennis Head Coach
Owen Hambrook, the longest-tenured coach in UNLV men’s tennis history, completed his 20th season in 2023. With a record-breaking 230+ victories, he surpassed Fred Albrecht in 2021 to become the program’s all-time wins leader. Hambrook led UNLV to its first two Mountain West (MW) championships in 2007 and 2016, earning NCAA Tournament berths both years.
Key Achievements:
2020: Historic 13-1 season with a .929 winning percentage, the best in program history, despite COVID-19 cancellation.
2018: Coached MW Player of the Year Alexandr Cozbinov, who qualified for NCAA Singles and earned ITA Mountain Region Senior of the Year.
2007: First MW title, NCAA team appearance, and highest team GPA among UNLV sports.
2005: Achieved 16 wins, defeated a top-10 team, and returned to ITA top 40, with Henner Nehles as MW Player of the Year.

Coach Ryerson
Rich Ryerson: UNLV Men’s Soccer Head Coach (2010–2021)
Overview: Rich Ryerson, a UNLV soccer alum (1983–1986), coached the Rebels for 12 seasons (2010–2021). A four-year starter, he holds the program’s record for career matches (84) and contributed to three NCAA Tournaments and a No. 4 national ranking in 1985. Inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, Ryerson also played professionally for 10 years.
Coaching Highlights:
2014: Led UNLV to its first NCAA Tournament in 26 years, winning the WAC regular season and tournament. Named WAC and NSCAA Region Coach of the Year.
2016: Secured WAC Tournament title and UNLV’s first NCAA win in 29 years.
Player Development: Coached five MLS draft picks, including MAC Hermann Trophy nominee Danny Musovski.
Graduated over 80 student athletes.
Community Impact: Worked with local community leaders to save the program from elimination in 2010 through fundraising and prioritized local, first-generation student-athletes.
